Meet my two leopard geckos, Gertie & Gantry

Gertie, my first (female) gecko, on the day we got her, about twelve years ago. Jean is the headless woman.

My niece Esme with Gertie, a few years back.

Two years ago Gertie was joined by Gantry, a very young male (sort of toy-boy).

Early fears that she might eat him proved groundless.

T-shirt mountaineering.

Gantry as he is today. Quite a bit bigger.

As they are today, January 2002, pretty well an old married couple. Gantry is on the right. His nose looks funny because he is shedding his skin.

NO LONGER WITH US

Sad to say, Gantry departed this life in 1998, and was outlived by the much older Gertie who survived an amazing SEVEN YEARS longer, dying at an estimated age of 20 in 2005. This may not be a leopard gecko record but it's right at the upper end of the range for the species. I have now (September 2006) got a baby VEILED CHAMELEON to rear. These are more demanding animals to care for and I am looking forward to our future together with high hopes but great trepadation.
